You are in Vejle as a refugee or family reunified
If you are a refugee or family reunified, you will come into contact with JOBVejle when you either live or want to live in Vejle Municipality.
As a newcomer to Denmark, most people have a lot of questions and many practical challenges to solve. On this page, you and your relatives can read about our various integration initiatives. You can also find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about education and work when you are new to Denmark.
You are also always welcome to contact us at JOBVejle.
What you need to know as a foreigner
If you have questions about your residence permit, citizenship or family reunification, you can find help here:
If you are a refugee or family reunified, you will be assigned an employment advisor at JOBVejle.
Together you will draw up an integration contract. An integration contract must include a plan for how you will get into education and/or work.
The integration contract is valid until you are granted a permanent residence permit.
At the same time as you sign your integration contract, you must also sign an integration declaration. The integration declaration will make the values and expectations of Danish society visible to you.
You will be invited to regular interviews at the job centre, where we will follow up on the agreements we have made with each other.
When you come to Denmark as a refugee or family reunified and are unemployed, you may be eligible for either Self-support, Repatriation or Transitional benefit.
Once you have a residence permit, you can apply for a job on an equal footing with everyone else.
At JOBVejle, we will work with you to find a job for you. You may also need some training or upskilling, and we can help with that too.
All foreigners (refugees, reunited family members and immigrants) have the right to learn Danish. When you can read, write and speak Danish, you can do better in Denmark.
You must attend language school to learn the Danish language. The Jobcenter will refer you to Danish lessons, and it is the language school that assesses your language level.
This is done in an interview at the language school and then they decide which class you should attend.
If you get a job, you can move your lessons to another class. This must be done in collaboration with the language school.
If you have a degree from your home country, you can have it assessed and possibly recognised. You can read more about this on the website of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
You can also get help from JOBVejle.
If you want to receive integration benefit, you must be available for the labour market. Therefore, your children must attend daycare and/or school.
Daycare centre and school
At JOBVejle, we can help you get your children enrolled in daycare and school.
Public health nurse
The municipality's public health nurses offer home visits to all refugee and reunified children under the age of 5. You can contact the health visitor or the job centre if you want to take advantage of this offer.
Integration counsellor
As a family, you may be offered an integration counsellor who can give you advice and guidance.
An integration counsellor will visit you at home and can provide guidance in relation to being a parent in Denmark - for example, in relation to school, daycare, leisure activities, diet, bedtimes, etc.
If you are a refugee or family reunified and want to return to your home country, you can contact the job centre for advice and guidance.
You can also read more about repatriation at the Danish Refugee Council (in Danish).
